Police Log Aug 10: Thefts, counterfeiting

The Gap store in Glen Eagle Square was ripped off to the tune of $420 last month. A police report said someone stole six pairs of jeans valued at $70 each on July 19. According to the report, the suspect is an unknown man who walked out with the pants under his arm.

A 52-year-old Garnet Valley man was the victim of criminal mischief on July 31. Police said someone damaged a cardboard sign with spray paint and ketchup and sprayed ketchup in his mailbox.

Police are investigating a case of counterfeiting at Wegmans on July 10. A report said three people, two black men, and one black woman, passed a counterfeit $100 bill and left the store with $90 in legal currency. They fled the store in a Nissan Sentra.

Police are also investigating a case of counterfeiting at the Fresh Market in Concord Township in which two black men passed a bogus $100 bill.

Yasmin Stephens, 37, of Wilmington, was arrested on shoplifting charges in Concord Township on July 17, a police report said. According to that report, Stephens concealed $79 worth of merchandise under her shirt and tried leaving Wegmans without paying.

Avondale Barracks

Police said Jerral Spencer, 35, of Wilmington, was arrested for drug possession after a traffic stop in Chadds Ford Township. According to the report, the stop was initiated because of observed traffic violations. When troopers made contact with Spencer, the report said, marijuana and paraphernalia were in plain sight. Police made the stop on Route 202 at Brintons Bridge Road on Aug. 3, just after midnight.
