Kennett Square to debut Restaurant Week

Kennett Square’s first-ever Restaurant Week – Feb. 24 to March 3 – will feature a wide variety of dining options at over a dozen participating restaurants. Also on tap: 15 nights of music at various venues, including restaurants and the Kennett Flash, “Food, Wine, and Good Times,” a culinary-themed art exhibit showing the work of Jeff Schaller, Dane Tilghman, Al Moretti, and others will be displayed at the Square Pear Gallery.

“We have such an exciting and diverse restaurant scene that we wanted to showcase the creativity of our chefs and introduce the many flavors of Kennett Square to a broader audience,” says Mary Hutchins, executive director of Historic Kennett Square. “There’s a great sense of anticipation building as chefs and restaurant owners put together special menus and offerings to celebrate this first-of-its-kind event in Kennett Square.”

With dishes headlining locally-sourced ingredients and a variety of international flavors, there will be something to cater to every palate—for adventurous foodies as well as for those in the mood for more traditional fare. Chef-driven creativity is at the heart of Restaurant Week and, much like a secret menu, diners will be able to taste and explore dishes not seen on regular menus.

Kennett Square’s Restaurant Week will also offer a wide range of dining experiences. Enjoy food, craft-brewed beer, and local music at Kennett Brewing Company; a leisurely four-course tasting menu at Kennett Square’s newest restaurant, Verbena BYOB; or a Lil’ Wrangler special (a Tipsy Texan Slider, pickles, and banana cream pie) with a side of local bands at The Creamery, where you can also work off the pie with an axe-throwing session at the onsite Chop Shop.Pair a three-course, prix-fixe dinner at Grain with Monday-night trivia, Tuesday-night bingo, or music on weekend nights. Watch your meal being prepared in Portabellos’ open kitchen or enjoy an appetizer combo as part of Lily Asian Cuisine’s three-course prix-fixe dinner menu. For those who would rather enjoy restaurant week in the comfort of their own home, Talula’s Table will offer a boxed and ready-to-eat three-course seasonal, farm-to-table dinner to pair with your own wine or beer for a gourmet night in (and you don’t have to wait a year to reserve).

Restaurant Week will offer lunchtime options, too. Midday diners might choose a two-course, prix-fixe menu at La Verona or pop in to Sunrise Café to try a delicious new Kennett Square trend – blended beef and mushroom burgers from Phillips Mushrooms. Michoacana Grill is adding a delightful crunch to their popular salad bowls with a Restaurant Week-only special Nacho Salad for $7.75.
