Academic Achievement June 27

•  The University of Delaware announced that seven students from Chadds Ford were named to the school’s Dean’s List for spring 2018. The students are Mark Ellsworth, Michael Hutz, Hannah Huzar, Claire Mottola, Amanda Nielsen, Ryan Rhodes and Katelyn Sapp. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

•  Mitchell Camp and Morgan Nadin, both of Chadds Ford,  were named to the Spring 2018 Dean's List of Kutztown University. To be eligible for the Dean's List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60.

•  Joseph Michael Barakat. of Chadds Ford, a 2008 graduate of the Wilmington Friends School, earned his doctorate in chemical engineering from Stanford University. His thesis is titled, Microhydrodynamics of Vesicles in Channel Flow. Joe earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University in 2012. He will start Post-Doctoral research at the University of California-Santa Barbara in July.

•  Jesse Saran, of Chadds Ford, who is in the computer science program, made the Dean's List for the spring semester at Rochester Institute of Technology. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete," "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed at least 12 credit hours.

•  Kelly A. Denton, Noah Davis Highfill, Lauren Amanda Mcbride and Patrick H. Scharr, all from Chadd, were named to the Dean’s List at Clemson University for the Soring 2018 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

•  Meghan Nicole Mcbride and Jason D. Smiddy, both of Chadds Ford, were named to the President's List at Clemson University.

•  Anna Lee Foster, of Chadds Ford, was named to The University of Alabama Dean's List for spring 2018. A total of 11,347 students enrolled during the 2018 spring semester at UA were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

•  Chadds Ford residents Dakota Raymond and Kara Siemer were named to the spring 2018 Dean's List at University of the Sciences. Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a "C" and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the spring of 2018.

•  Natalie Murphy, of Chadds Ford, completed her first year at DePaul University Law School in the top ten percent of her class and has been named to DePaul Law Review. She also received the Distinguished Class Performance award in Torts having achieved the highest grade in the class and having written the most outstanding final examination.

•  Julianna Murphy of Chadds Ford has been named to the Dean’s List at Penn State for the spring 2018 semester. She is a security risk analysis major in the College of Information Sciences and Technology with a minor in psychology.

• Haithm Abdou, of Chadds Ford, graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in pharmaceutical and healthcare studies degree from University of the Sciences and was recognized at a bachelor's degree conferment ceremony on Friday, May 18. Abdou continues on in the doctor of pharmacy program.
