Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day

The public is invited to attend Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day, featuring a Military Timeline. Historical Military Impressions and the Pennsylvania National Guard are assisting in the presentation. Re-enactors will be in camps and displaying the dress and items they carried into battle. Go to https://pbpfinc.org/hdevent

The public is invited to interact with the soldiers, see the weapons they used and learn about the clothing and other gear that these soldiers needed to outfit themselves on the battlefield. Many other programs will be taking place through the day.

A Food Truck Festival will be on site for refreshments.

Ben Franklin will demonstrate his great inventions. As in past timeline events, the shoot the Wall Gun will be offered. Chris Reardon will display his black power firearm collection/

Information will be available on the Battle of Paoli and why it was named the “Paoli Massacre” by patriots. Those attending can visit the 2nd oldest War Memorial in the United States, atop the grave of 52 of the 53 Continental Soldiers killed at the Battle of Paoli.

To close out the day, a veterans’ recognition ceremony will be held. Re-enactors will march out of camp and lay wreaths at the mass grave site of the patriots who perished during the Battle of Paoli on September 20-21, 1777.  After remarks about the history and sacrifice of our fighting men and women, a bugler will play taps, which will then be followed by a firing salute.

Admission is a donation of $10.00 per person. The family rate, a maximum for four people, is $20.00. Children under 5 years old are free. A 20% discount on tickets will be given to those purchasing before August 31, 2022. Proceeds benefit the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund. The non-profit fund is dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting the historical significance of the Paoli Battlefield through the funding and development of educational programs and conservation activities including historical tours, reenactments, research, publications, lectures/workshops and restoration of the property to its indigenous state.
