Learn about early American cooking techniques at Newlin Grist Mill.

Starting on Saturday, April 19, Newlin Grist Mill will host a series of Kitchen Encounters programs to demonstrate historic cooking and explore early American foodways. The programs will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on selected Saturdays in the recently restored 1739 Trimble House Kitchen, as well as at the reconstructed bake oven behind the site’s Miller’s House. The first demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 with the theme of Butter and Cheese, inspired by the excavation of a dairy addition on the Trimble barn site.

Because of expected rain on Saturday, the Concord Township Easter Egg Hunt has been postponed to Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m. The Event location remains Bush Hill Farm, 30 Bethel Road.

Youth Concerto Competition winner Kwanyun Loo is featured at the Delaware County Symphony’s concert on May 4.

Delaware County Symphony presents: The Planets Symphony Concert on Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m. The concert features the Youth Concerto Competition Winner, Kwanyun Loo on cello performing Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, Op.33. Holst's monumental masterpiece, The Planets, is the finale of the program. The Delaware County Symphony will be at its largest and most impressive for this magical portrait of our solar system.

People of a certain age will recall the name Nat King Cole. On Friday, April 25, Longwood Gardens presents Unforgettable, the Music of Nat King Cole. Entertainer Justin Guarini, Grammy Award-winner Sydney James Harcourt, and celebrated singer-songwriter Nia Drummond—celebrate Cole’s enduring influence with timeless classics and relive the nostalgia of his music and talent. There are two performances scheduled, one at 6 and the other at 8:30 p.m. Tickets range in price and are available here.

Twilight on the Terrace returns to Mt. Cuba Center on May 16.

Mt. Cuba Center’s Twilight on the Terrace is back. Scheduled are five dates beginning May 16. Others are in June, July, and two in August. They are held from 5-8 p.m. Unwind from the week with a bite to eat while enjoying live music and evening access to the gardens. Grab a seat on the terrace or bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the lawn. Pack your own picnic or purchase local food truck fare, beer and wine. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Runners get ready. Hagley Museum’s seventh annual Hagley 5K/1K run/walk along the Brandywine River is scheduled for Saturday, April 26. Registration fee for the 5K is $35; for the 1K Family Fun Run is $15. For more information and to register, go here.
