Summer camps at West Chester for 7- to 22-year-olds.

Registration is now open, and spots remain for select summer camps and programs at West Chester University. More than 20 camp programs are available for the enrichment and education of area youth from ages 7 – 22. There are camps focusing on music, theatre, art, writing, sports, and more. Programs are taught by expert faculty, student-athletes, and local professionals who are specialists in the camp’s field. All programs take place on West Chester University’s campus in state-of-the-art facilities. The high-quality, relatively low-cost programming will keep students mentally and physically active this summer. Information and links to registration can be found at www.wcupa.edu/summercamps/.

On Monday, May 29, the Brandywine Baptist Church Cemetery will be the site of the annual Memorial Day celebration hosted by VFW Post 811. The special event will include various color guards, music, a 21-gun salute, the placing of flowers on veterans’ graves, and a benediction. This year’s speaker is historian and re-enactor Fred Magner. The program will begin at 8:30a.m. and last approximately 30 minutes.  Brandywine Baptist Church, 1463 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford.

The Residence at Chadds Ford is continuing to collect old eyeglasses and hearing aids through June 1. The items will be given to the Lions Club. A drop box for the glasses and hearing aids is located in the lobby at 1778 Wilmington Pike in Chadds Ford.

The last Clover market of the season is Sunday, June 4.

The award-winning Clover Market returns to Kennett Square on Sunday, June 4 from 10-4 p.m. for a curated outdoor artisan market. This free event takes place at the 600 S. Broad Street parking lot, with abundant parking across the street at Kennett High School. The Market will feature 100 carefully curated handmade and vintage vendors, a lineup of 10 of the region's most popular food and beverage trucks including Philly Hots, Surf and Turf Truck, Dos Hermanos Tacos, Clean Plate Club, libations from Braeloch Brewing and Grace Winery, live music from 12-3 from Hake & Jarema, hands-on crafting and face painting for the little ones, and additional shopping and dining options all around town. Learn about the history of photography during a virtual event by the Chester County History Center.

Anyone interested in the history of photography should check out a virtual program at the Chester County History Center. Join photographer John Milleker at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, for Drawing with Light: A History of Photography.  John has intimate knowledge of the processes of photography through two centuries as he still practices, teaches, and demonstrates nearly all of them. Learn about the inventors and processes of history, how they work, and how they relate to each other. This is a “pay-as-you-wish event. Register here.

The next Summer Nights at Hagley is Wednesday, Jun 7 from 5-8 p.m. Relax and enjoy an after-work stroll along the Brandywine’s most beautiful mile on summer Wednesday evenings from June through August. Bring the whole family for summer fun in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring a picnic or sample local food trucks. Admission is $5 per person, free for Hagley members. Please note that this event is weather-dependent. Check Hagley's home page for updates. New for 2023, dogs are welcome every Summer Wednesday Night.

It's belly up to the bar at the Brandywine Battlefield Park on Saturday, June 17. The first-ever Brews at the Battlefield runs from 5-8 p.m. At least seven breweries are scheduled to bring their product for a night of fun, music, food and beer. Tickets are $40.00 per person for general admission and $15.00 per person for designated drivers. This is a 21 and over (with valid ID), rain or shine event.
