Chadds Ford in Brief

Chadds Ford Township supervisors accepted the resignation of Joe Pileggi as township auditor and appointed Ben Simon as his replacement. The move came during the Board of Supervisors’ Feb. 1 meeting. Simon will serve through 2023.

Also at the meeting, the board announced they’re looking for a new roadmaster to replace Dennis Henry who’s held the position for four years. The board also reappointed former township resident Lois Saunders as an ad hoc member of the Open Space Committee, a position she's held since 2008.

The township Zoning Hearing Board is scheduled to hear two applications during its Feb. 16 meeting. One hearing is for a parking variance in the little strip mall with the U.S. Post Office. The property owner, Casey Lafferty, is looking for a parking variance so a coffee shop can move into the former bank site.

The other hearing will be for a use variance at 1839 Creek Road. That property, owned by the Brandywine Conservancy, has been residential but the conservancy wants to change it to office use.
