Police Log Dec. 28: Possible rape attempt

Two teenagers from Baltimore, a 19- and a 13-year-old, were arrested on shoplifting charges after the two tried stealing almost $1,300 worth of food and personal items from Wegmans in Concord Township on Dec. 14. Neither suspect was identified in the report.

An employee at Maris Grove reported to state police that she suspects another employee of trying to sexually assault a 91-year-old patient.

UPDATE: police are now saying that the above report was unfounded. End UPDATE.

Avondale Barracks

Police said Rita Samaniego Ruiz, 38, of Wilmington, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed following a one-vehicle crash on Dec. 22 in Pennsbury Township. According to the report, Samaniego Ruiz was driving too fast for conditions on an icy Route 1 near Joshua’s Way at 9:08 a.m. when her Jeep Cherokee ran off the road and struck a PennDOT traffic sign and a PECO utility pole. Police reported no injuries.

Kennett square Police Department

Police said Francisco Rios-Chino, 30, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with indirect criminal contempt of court, simple assault, and harassment, following an altercation in which he allegedly grabbed a female victim by the neck and pushed her up against the wall. The victim currently has an active PFA against Rios-Chino. The incident occurred on Dec. 13, at approximately 10:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Center Street. Rios-Chino was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking.
