Jose Del Carmen Herrera of Cochranville

Jose Del Carmen Herrera, 83, of Cochranville, died Monday, Sept. 19, at Twin Pines Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Ma Luz Gonzalez B., with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Yuriria, GTO, Mexico, he was the son of the late Fidel Herrera and the late Maria Mora.

Jose was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of St. Rocco Catholic Church.

Jose enjoyed reading, politics, playing cards, Dominos, and watching soccer and baseball on TV. He was a food lover and enjoyed being with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Carlos Herrera (Rosa) of Lincoln University, PA, Jose Luis Herrera (Maria) of Cochranville, Fidel Herrera (Imelda) of Lincoln University, and Adolfo Herrera (Wendy) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three daughters, Maria L. Perez (Rafael) of Atglen, Isabel Juarez (Mauricio) of Parkesburg, and Ma Jesus Barajas (Ricardo) of Parkesburg; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Antonio Herrera and Miguel Herrera.

You are invited to visit with Jose’s family and friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at St. Rocco Catholic Church, 313 Sunny Dell Road in Avondale. His Funeral Mass will follow at 6:30. His burial be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
