Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is a free day at Winterthur. Visitors can explore the summer garden, take a hayride over the hills, or learn something new in the galleries, free of charge. Enjoy live music and activities around the estate, such as beekeeping, crafting, garden hikes, and story time. While free, registration is required.

The next walking tour of West Chester’s Underground Railroad is Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 (20 percent off with a Chester County History Center member discount). The tour covers approximately 1.25 miles, lasts 90 minutes, and is entirely outdoors. Space is limited to preserve a great experience - we anticipate the tours will sell out. Register here.

Delaware County Community College and Hedgerow Theatre Company have joined together to produce William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” to be performed at 8 p.m., Aug. 3-6 on the outdoor stage at the College’s Marple Campus, 901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063. General admission is $15, and tickets can be purchased online at dccc.edu/theatre and in person on the evening of the performance. Attendees are invited to bring chairs and blankets as well as refreshments to enjoy during the performance on the lawn under the stars in the courtyard.

The Chadds Ford Historical Society will host a two-day colonial festival and re-enactment event on Sept. 10 and 11. The re-enactment focuses on the Battle of Brandywine, fought on Sept. 11, 1777. The two-day reenactment/festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11, 2022, on the grounds of the Historical Society at 1736 N. Creek Road, Chadds Ford. Free parking on site. Admission is $10 for adults 18 and older, $5 for children ages 7 to 17. Free admission for CFHS members and children six and under. Single tickets are now on sale for Delaware Theatre Co. 2022-2023 season. The season opens Sept.14 with “Here You Come Again,” a musical about a never-was comedian and his relationship with Dolly Parton. Four other productions are on the bill through April 30.
