Media Barracks

State police from the Media barracks said they arrested a 21-year-old man from Wilmington on June 24 after a traffic stop at 11:02 p.m. According to the report, Cody McGonigal, 21, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala on Oakland Road in Chadds Ford Township when he was stopped for vehicle code violations. During the investigation, police said they determined McGonigal to be DUI, in possession of marijuana and brass knuckles.

Police are investigating a case of missing prescription drugs at the Maris Grove retirement community. A report said a card of 16 Oxycodone tablets, 5 mg strength, was missing.

Police are also investigating the reported theft of a bottle of Grey Goose vodka taken from Carrabba’s restaurant in Painters Crossing. The incident happened on June 2.

Some reportedly stole almost $880 worth of merchandise from the Target store in Concord Township in May.

Wendy P. Haedo, 66, of Garnet Valley, was cited for following too closely after an accident at Routes 1 and 202 on June 1, police said. A passenger in the other car was taken to Riddle Hospital for treatment of injuries. According to the report, both vehicles were southbound on 202 approaching Route 1, but Haedo was unable to stop in time when the lead vehicle stopped for a traffic light.

Police arrested a 28-year-old from Glen Mills for allegedly assaulting a Philadelphia man on Naamans Creek Road at 11:12 p.m. on June 4. The police report didn’t give details of the incident but did identify the suspect as Kevin Bruton.

Avondale Barracks

Police said they arrested a 54-year-old man from Chadds Ford for stealing $150 worth of grocery items from the Walmart in East Marlborough Township on June 11. Police did not identify the arrestee in the report.

Kennett Square Police Department

On June 21, James Nania, Jr., 19, of Morton, turned himself in at Magisterial District Court 15-3-04 after a warrant had been issued for his arrest as a result of a sexual assault investigation involving a child younger than 16. He was arraigned on the charges and bail was set at $100,000 unsecured with numerous reporting and compliance conditions attached. The alleged incident took place on June 11. Nania was identified as having met the victim through the social media application, Snapchat. The victim, who is less than 16 years of age and more than 4 years younger than Nania, left their house with Nania in the middle of the night. The victim reported that Nania filmed them engaging in sexual activity.
