Like honey? Learn how it goes from bee to bottle at Winterthur

Oh, honey, it’s Crafternoon: Honey at Winterthur. Learn about the process of extracting honey from the comb and take home your own small bottle. There are two sessions on July 8. Registration required. The cost is $20, $15 for members.

Now through Aug. 24, Chadds Ford Township is offering Story Time on Wednesdays beginning at 10 a.m. Each week has a special theme that matches the selected books which will be read by a volunteer reader. A light snack will be provided. The township asks that all children are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Story Time will be held in the pavilion adjacent to the playground between the municipal building and the sewer plant.

Music under the stars with The Kennett Symphony at Longwood Gardens this Sunday.

The Kennett Symphony performs selections perfect for a night under the stars this Sunday, June 26 at Longwood Gardens. The night begins with The Lark Ascending, which portrays nostalgia for a simpler time, joined by Kennett Symphony Instrumental Competition Winner Kristy Chen (violin). Next, Selections from The Planets nods to the magic of a night sky, while John Williams’ legendary score from Star Wars hearkens back to old Hollywood film scores. Master singer and storyteller TAHIRA will perform at the Brandywine River Museum of Art from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Freedom Stories with TAHIRA explores and illuminates the genius and creativity of African Americans past and present in their fight for freedom. The performance will be held in the scenic atrium of the Brandywine River Museum of Art. People needing to retire their American flags can turn them in on July 4th at the Chadds Ford Township municipal building courtesy of the Chadds Ford Residents’ Association.

The Chadds Ford Residents’ Association will conduct an American Flag drop-off on Independence Day, Monday, July 4th from 9-11 a.m. Flags in any condition will be taken for proper retirement. Coffee and donuts will be available.

Penn State Extension announces that we will be hosting STEM Camp, July 5-7, daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chester County Government Service Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester. The camp, designed for children 8 and older, will explore 6 different STEM projects including game design with SCRATCH, Kitchen Chemistry, Robotics, and Engineering Design.  Penn State staff and teen STEM ambassadors will lead the program. The cost for the Day Camp is $25 for youth not currently enrolled in 4-H and includes 4-H membership.  There is no charge for current 2021-22 4-H members. AT&T is proposing to replace antennas at the top of a 112-foot utility transmission tower 39 Heyburn Road in Chadds Ford. The new antennas will be installed at a top height of 117 feet. AT&T is publishing this notice in accordance with Federal Communications Commission regulations (47 CFR § 1.1307) for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
