Taxes up in Chadds Ford

Chadds Ford Township supervisors passed the 2022 budget with a slight tax increase Wednesday night in a meeting held via Zoom. The meeting was changed from in-person to virtual because of a recent COVID exposure at the municipal building.

As previously reported, the budget for next year anticipates revenues and expenses to be $1.27 million. Next year's total township taxes come to 0.5922 in fire hydrant districts and 0.5252 in other areas.

A breakdown of taxes for next year include 0.3520 mils for the general fund, 0.0072 for Rachel Kohl Library, 0.1660 mils for open space, and 0.0670 for the fire hydrant districts.

(A mil is a tax of $1 for every $1,000 of assessed value.)

The 2021 budget was $1.083 million, with total township tax rates at 0.5262 in areas with fire hydrants and 0.4662 without hydrants.

The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be the state-required reorganization meeting on Monday, Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. That, too, will be held via Zoom. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
