Police Log Dec. 29: Car theft, criminal mischief, assault

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of a 2000 dark green Lexus RX300 on Nov. 28. The car was stolen while parked on Brandywine Street. Along with the car, the unknown suspect got a $400 toolbox with tools, a $200 welding bucket, a $200 climbing harness, an Apple Watch, Apple air pods, and various other items.

Adrian Odins, 58, of Havertown, was arrested on criminal mischief charges after he allegedly damaged television, microwave, and an A/C unit at the Hillside Motel on Route 1 in Concord Township, a police report said. The incident reportedly happened at approximately 2 p.m. on Dec. 23. Total damage was reported as $1,200.

Police said Tyshawn Smith, 19, of Baltimore, Md., was arrested for drug possession following a Dec. 22 traffic stop on Route 1 at Evergreen Drive in Concord Township. According to the report, troopers stopped a black 2012 Toyota Camry just before midnight because it didn’t display any registration. Police said they discovered an active warrant out of Maryland and found that he was in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

State police are investigating a retail theft. On Dec. 22, shortly after 5 p.m., police responded to a call about a theft at the CVS on Route 1 in Concord Township. The report said an unidentified man was seen taking items from the store and attempting to leave the store without paying. Store employees confronted the suspect, who discarded some of the items and fled. The suspect fled on foot, leaving the other stolen items in the parking lot. The only item mentioned stolen in the report was heartburn medicine valued at $179.

A one-car crash on Route 202, north of Smithbridge Road, led to the arrest of a 26-year-old. Police identified the driver as Shawn Tansky of Newark and said they determined he was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The accident happened at 12:23 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Eugene Stokes, 38, of Coatesville, was arrested on assault charges for allegedly punching a woman in the face on Dec. 7 in Concord Township, according to a police report. Stokes was processed, arraigned, and released on $5,000 bail.

Kennett Square Police Department

Crisanto De La Cruz-Antonio, 61, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses following a traffic stop for failing to stop at a posted stop sign, a police report said. The incident happened on Dec. 19, at approximately 7:48 p.m., in the 600 block of South Walnut Street. According to the report, officers observed indicators suggesting intoxication, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.092 percent.

Police said Jean Carter, 57, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses on Dec. 14. The incident happened on Dec. 14, at approximately 3:24 p.m., near Union and State streets. The report said officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 500 block of Birch Street and followed the vehicle to New Granite Way, observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel the entire time and almost striking multiple vehicles. After catching up with Carter, officers said they noticed indicators of intoxication. Field sobriety tests indicated impairment, the report said. Police then took her into custody for suspicion of DUI. A chemical test of her breath showed a blood alcohol level of 0.279 percent.
