Police Log Nov. 17: Thefts, motorcyclist killed

State police said they arrested Michael Brennan, 59, of Wilmington, on shoplifting charges. Brennan reportedly attempted taking $94 worth of merchandise on Nov. 6.

Police are investigating the reported theft of $474 worth of Red Bull from the Wawa on Route 1 in Concord Township. The theft took place shortly before 10 p.m. on Oct. 17, according to the police report.

Jesus Rodriguez Santiago, 41, of Kennett Square, was cited for driving without a license following a one-car crash in East Marlborough Township on Nov. 3, a police report said. According to that report, Rodriguez Santiago was driving north in the left lane of Baltimore Pike, another vehicle entered the roadway from South Orchard Avenue. Rodriguez Santiago swerved for “unknown reasons” and left the lane of travel and struck a PennDOT sign.

According to a police report, Bradley Haines, 41, of Kennett Square, was arrested for drug possession after state police troopers found him a pickup truck in the east Marlborough Township Walmart parking lot on Oct. 21.

Borough police said Tania Pina-Pina (no age or place of residence mentioned) faces a series of charges related to a motor vehicle death in September. The report said Pina-Pina was driving an SUV that collided with a motorcyclist at West Cypress and Lafayette streets. According to the report, several witnesses said they observed Pina-Pina failing to stop at a stop sign before striking the victim. Charges include an accident involving death/injury, drivers required to be licensed, reckless driving, and careless driving.

Kevin Luna-Zavala, 24, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act (Act 64) after he was found to be in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia, a police report said. The incident happened on Nov. 3 at 4:42 p.m. in the 500 block of Las Rosas Drive. Police said Luna-Zavala also has two active arrest warrants and was turned over to a constable after being transported to Kennett Square Police Department. Possession of marijuana charges was filed with District Court 15-3-04.

Police said Alexis Doherty, 26, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with DUI and related offenses after the vehicle she was operating was stopped for failing to stop at a clearly posted stop sign. The incident occurred on Nov. 6, at approximately 11:04 p.m., at the intersection of Birch Street and S. Walnut Street. Police said officers observed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests showed impairment. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.172 percent.
