Cleanup continues in Chadds Ford Village. Some private homes remain uninhabitable, and a few businesses are still closed.

While the U.S. Post Office is getting mail out, Postmaster Paul Gararoczo said the building remains closed. The floor buckled in two places and it’s not safe, he said. Meanwhile, people wanting to get mail from their lockboxes have to give their keys to a postal employee out on the porch who will retrieve the mail for them.

Agave Restaurant is still closed, and a sign says it will remain closed until further notice. Brandywine Prime is still closed, but an email Saturday said they hope to have news about reopening this week. Antica has reopened, but there is no new word on Hank’s Place which is in the process of being gutted.

Bags of horse bedding are strewn along the creekside near the Brandywine River Museum of Art trail. The material floated down from Ace Hardware during the flood.

Leader’s Sunoco is coming back, albeit slowly. The service bays are open, but the shop is only offering limited services. The wheel alignment machines were ruined in the flood, as was the credit card system. They’re doing a workaround for that, according to Dan Leader.

He also said it could be several months before they can pump gas again, though. The pumps themselves were ruined, and he said it could be 10 to 16 weeks before they can be replaced. The station will also lose the roughly 7,000 gallons of gasoline that were in the tanks before the Sept. 1 storm.

The Brandywine River Museum of Art is also closed until further notice. Cleanup efforts on the conservancy campus include volunteer efforts volunteer scheduled for this Saturday.
