An attempted jailbreak at a district court in New Garden Township led to a constable being injured, but state police troopers apprehended the female suspect. The incident happened on Aug. 4. According to the report, the suspect, a 41-year-old woman from Newark, who was awaiting transportation back to Chester County Prison, managed to slip out of her handcuffs while in a holding cell. She then attacked a constable who entered the cell and then tried escaping through the rear courthouse door. State police intervened and recaptured the individual. She was then taken to Jennersville Hospital for evaluation before being returned to the county prison.
