Police Log Aug. 18: Drug possession, DUI, endangering

State police arrested two men on drug possession charges in East Marlborough Township on July 30. The two were not named in the report, only that one is 20 years old from Wilmington, and the other is 19 and from West Grove.  The arrest came after a traffic stop on Route 1 shortly after midnight. Police said they saw the passenger discard a brown-colored object in a grassy area, and the driver indicated signs of driving under the influence of alcohol. The report said that the driver admitted to drinking, and both showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. A search revealed a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.

A June 27 traffic stop in Pocopson Township led to the arrest of a 25-year-old woman from Bear, Del. for DUI. A police report the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at Lenape and S. Creek roads in Birmingham Township. After stopping the vehicle after it moved into Pocopson, police said they determined the driver was impaired. Police did not name the woman in the report.

Kennett Square Police Department

Police said they arrested Jose Lopez-Cintora on several counts, including one count of endangering the welfare of a child. On July 28, at approximately 3:24 a.m., officers were dispatched for a domestic assault involving a firearm in the 300 Block of Lafayette Street in Kennett Square. Upon arrival, officers were advised that Lopez-Cintora was threatening to commit suicide with a shotgun. The victim disarmed Lopez-Cintora, according to the report. Police also said Lopez-Cintora attempted to break into a bedroom where the victim was located to retrieve the firearm. Officers were able to confiscate and secure the firearm without incident.

On Aug. 3, at approximately 10:10 a.m., borough police officers were dispatched for a wellbeing check in the 500 Block of West Cypress Street, Kennett Square Borough. On arrival, they observed a female subject, later identified as Gabrielle Small, lying on the sidewalk who appeared to be confused and whose demeanor was consistent with that of an individual under the influence of controlled substances. Small was taken into custody, and her belongings searched. Police found marijuana and multiple other drug paraphernalia. Gabrielle Small was transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison, and charges were filed with District Court 15-3-04.
