New assistant super at U-CF

As anticipated, Unionville-Chadds Ford School Board directors approved a proposed final budget for next year and approved several contracts for works at several buildings. But the board also voted to promote Tim Hoffman to assistant superintendent. He replaces John Nolen who is retiring after 18 years in the district.

Tim Hoffman

Hoffman was named principal at CF Patton Middle School in 2012 and promoted to district director of curriculum and instruction in 2017.

The vote on Hoffman's new promotion was unanimous during the May 17 meeting. His contract runs from July 1 of this year through June 30 of 2026. Hoffman will receive $190,000 per year with scheduled increases of 3.5 percent next July and 3 percent per year each July through the end of the current contract.

School directors will vote to approve the final budget during their June 21 meeting. The proposed final budget calls for anticipated expenditures of $102,145,096 with revenues expected to be $92,920,061. However, an unreserved fund balance of $9,661,451 balances the budget when added to the revenues.

Millage rates will increase next year, should the budget pass as is. They will increase by 2.62 percent for Chester County property owners and 2.58 percent for Chadds Ford T0wnship property owners. The proposed new rates are 29.96 mills in Chester County and 15.46 mills in Delaware County.

The physical plant work approved includes a contract for $19,985 to Boyles Floor and Window Design for tile replacement at Unionville High School; a $16,000 contract to R.S. Claycomb Installation Company to resurface the gym divider partition an Hillendale Elementary School; and a contract for $102,600 to Gordian to replace and upgrade electrical panels at CF Patton Middle School.

The board’s next work session is scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 14, and the next regular meeting is on June 21 at 7:30 p.m.
