Mr. James J. Elliott Sr., died Thursday, April 1, at his residence. He was the loving husband for 50 years of Marie J. (Hartis) Elliott. Born on Nov. 3, 1949, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Harry and Regina (Widzgowski) Elliott.
Jim attended Salesianum High School graduating in the class of 1967. He achieved his bachelor’s and MBA from the University of Delaware finishing his master’s in 1973. He worked for Anixter in Media as a sales engineer. He was an ordained Catholic deacon serving the St. Patrick’s Parish in Kennett Square and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. When it was time to get away, he enjoyed family vacations to Disney World.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Elliott is survived by his three sons, Jim Elliott Jr. (Jennifer) of Wilmington, Michael Elliott (Wendy) Greensboro, N.C., and Steven Elliott (Denise) of Lancaster; and four granddaughters April, Makayla, Addison, and Victoria. He is also survived by his brother Harry Elliott of Wilmington.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kuzo Funeral Home, 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. There will be restrictions on the number of people allowed inside at a time. Additional time to pay respects will be on Thursday, April 8, from 9 – 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square, PA 19348 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kennett Square. Contributions may be made in Mr. Elliott’s name to St. Patrick’s Church, 205 Lafayette St., Kennett Square, PA 19348 or to Salesianum High School, 1801 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19802.
