Learn abut baseball and Chester County on March 11.

Learn how baseball history has a footprint in Chester County during Chester County History Center’s History Matters Speaker Series when Michael Peich explores the life and legacy of William “Bill” Killefer. Killefer was a catcher who played thirteen years in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Browns (1909-1910), Philadelphia Phillies (1911-1917), and Chicago Cubs (1918-1921). A resident of Chester County from 1917-1955, he has been largely forgotten in county sports history despite the fact that he helped define the role of the modern MLB catcher. The Zoom event is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 11. For more information and to register, go here.

During a charity event, an unrecognizable woman donates a large stack of disposable diapers. A male volunteer receives the donation.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is holding a diaper drive. Anyone is welcome to drop off disposable diapers at any of YGBW’s eight branches and the organization will make sure they get to those who need them. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, one in three US families reports having a need for diapers and there are no state or federal programs that cover diapers specifically. With infants requiring up to 12 diapers a day and toddlers about eight, disposable diapers can quickly run parents and caregivers $70-$80 a month. Most childcare centers, even those with free and/or subsidized programs, require parents to provide at least a day’s supply of disposable diapers. The drive runs through Feb. 28. YGBW branches are located in Kennett Square, Coatesville, Exton, Atglen, West Grove, Berwyn, and two in West Chester.
