Clara Elizabeth Pfitzenmeyer, 86, of Claymont, formerly of Chadds Ford, died at home Friday, Dec. 18.
Born in Embreeville, raised in Chadds Ford, Clara was the daughter of the late Martin and Ethel Turner. She was a 1953 graduate of Kennett High School. Clara was employed in the banking industry for most of her working career. She was a member of Atonement United Methodist Church, Claymont. Clara bowled in several leagues most of her life. Her most favorite things were food, friends, and church.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Dawn Shomper of Claymont; grandsons, Robert Pfitzenmeyer, Charles Pfitzenmeyer; great-granddaughter, Ariel Pfitzenmeyer, all of Oklahoma; several cousins; two sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews; her church family; and her cat, Simon. In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her son, Robert Pfitzenmeyer in 2011 and her husband, Sonny Pfitzenmeyer in 2014.
Private services will be held at Atonement United Methodist Church, Claymont, with private burial in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills.
