Road report for Dec 19 to Dec 25

PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect drivers in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Dec 19 to Dec 25. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones. Work schedules are subject to change.

Construction will begin in early January 2021 on a project to replace the culverts that carry Green Valley Road over a tributary of West Brandywine Creek and over Green Valley Creek in Newlin Township. Due to the nature of construction, Green Valley Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Powell Road and Brandywine Creek Road beginning Monday, Jan. 4, through the completion of the project, which is scheduled for late-March 2021. During the closure, Green Valley Road motorists will be directed to use Brandywine Creek Road and Powell Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Utility work is expected to cause lane restrictions on High Street, between Price and Norfolk streets in West Chester, through Dec. 20.

The Concord Road bridge over Green Creek will be closed and detoured between Valentine Drive and Foulk Road in Concord Township. Work is expected to be completed in early February 2021. During the closure, Concord Road motorists will be detoured over Valley Brook Road and Smithbridge Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
