Santa is coming to town courtesy of Longwood Fire Co.

Despite COVID, Santa is still making his rounds courtesy of Longwood Fire Co. Longwood will be escorting Santa to East Marlborough Township on Dec. 12, Pocopson on Dec. 13, Kennett on Dec. 19, and Pennsbury Township on Dec.20. All the trips begin at 8:30 a.m., but, because of COVID, candy canes will not be distributed.

A virtual Gingerbread House Contest at the Chadds Ford Historical Society.

The Chadds Ford Historical Society is holding a virtual Gingerbread House Making Contest now through Dec. 27. Participation is free. For the contest theme, categories, and rules, visit the website.

Concord Township has canceled its planned holiday celebration and visit from Santa, previously scheduled for Dec. 4, due to COVID mitigation procedures.

Concert 3 of the Delaware County Symphony’s virtual "Concerts on Demand" series is available now on its YouTube channel and Facebook page. Under the direction of Jennifer Nicole Campbell, it features the DCS Brass Quintet and the DCS Woodwind Trio performing pieces inspired by folk music or based on folk tunes and dances. The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is hosting its first-ever “Season of Giving” virtual event on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This free event, a family-friendly kick-off to the holiday season for all ages, will be a live streaming event and feature familiar faces from our YMCA locations, performances, and the chance to win some great prizes. In addition to the one-hour live stream taking place on Dec. 10, YGBW is holding a virtual auction that opens one week before to get the community excited about the virtual live stream. Individuals can bid electronically on items, purchase raffle tickets, and even donate from the comfort of their own homes. Get a leg up on learning code at Rachel Kohl Library.

Rachel Kohl Library is offering a free virtual Hour of Code workshop on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code," show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. Register your child today for an opportunity to experience the fun in coding.
