Families take time out to enjoy some Halloween fun at Thornbury Farm CSA in Thornbury Township. There was live music, board games and, according to owner Randell Spackman, a chance to “make some great memories.”

The Newlin Grist Mill Trails are now reopening to the public on Nov. 9. The trails had been closed due to heavy rain and flooding in August. Visitors should keep in mind that while the grounds and major trails are reopening, repair work in the park is ongoing and should use caution and be mindful of marked trails that are still closed while repairs continue. Public restrooms, the visitor center, and historic buildings are still closed.

Mt. Cuba Center is closing for the season on Nov. 22.

Apprise, a division of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging will be offering a limited number of individual Medicare counseling sessions via phone Nov. 12 & 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Counseling sessions are thirty minutes to an hour-long. Counselors will assist Medicare beneficiaries with questions concerning Medigap plan comparisons and other Medicare and health insurance-related information. To register, email rkreference@delcolibraries.org with your name as well as the names of any additional individuals you'd like to register and a phone number where you can be reached. The number of sessions is limited. Only one individual may register per session. You will receive an email back with your assigned time and the counselor's name who will be assisting you. Counselors will be given your phone number and will contact you at the time of your appointment.  

Delaware County is recruiting residents to join a national initiative geared toward encouraging individuals to volunteer to assist during disasters, mass care, and public health events. The Citizen Corps is a branch of Freedom Corps. It offers both medical professionals and non-medically qualified volunteers the opportunity to receive free training and to be part of a team to support a broad range of emergency/disaster responses to help our fellow citizens in the county.
