Police are investigating a case of identity theft in Chadds Ford Township.  A 66-year-old woman in Painters Crossing said someone used her name to obtain a small business loan, and she later received a debit card in her name, a card for which she never applied. Both accounts were closed after she contacted the bank.

State police are investigating the reported theft of jewelry from two women in their 80s, living at Maris Grove in Concord Township. The incidents were reported on Aug.  7.

Police arrested two men in their 20s on assault charges at the Naamans Creek Road Wawa on Aug. 18, shortly before 1 a.m. According to the report, the men, both from Upland, got into an altercation with one of them eventually getting a firearm from his vehicle. Witnesses restrained him, and both left the premises, but they returned and resumed their altercation. One left the store a second time but was later apprehended.

Avondale Barracks

State police from the Avondale Barracks cited a driver for speeding following a one-car crash in Pocopson Township on Aug. 13. The incident happened on S. Wawaset Road at 4:36 p.m. Police said the driver, not named in the report, slid on the wet road surface while attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve. The Honda Civic left the roadway and slid approximately 75 yards down a steep hill before coming to rest.

Michael Dougherty, 25, of Springfield, was cited for following too close after an accident on Route 1, east of Fairville Road, in Pennsbury Township on Aug. 6, a police report said. There were no details of the accident in the report, but police did say there were no injuries.
