Business group talk shutdown, wages, taxes

The Chester County COVID-19 Business Task Force continues its series of free webinars this Thursday, July 30, at 3:30 p.m. This week’s webinar addresses how the business shutdown in Pennsylvania impacts tax collection across municipalities. To join the webinar, go here.

The key webinar speaker is Joe Lazzaro, vice president and general counsel for Keystone Collections Group, the earned income tax collection agency for the communities and school districts within Chester County, as well as 18 counties throughout Pennsylvania.

Lazzaro will present data related to wage and delinquent tax collection impact, caused by COVID-19.

“Townships across Pennsylvania are projecting decreases in income tax revenue, one of their most important sources of revenue,” Lazzaro said in a press release. “The severity of the impact, and how bad annual losses could be, will depend on how long the business shutdown orders remain in Pennsylvania due to COVID-19.”

Participants will have the chance to ask questions after the presentation.

The webinar is free and is hosted by Chester County Commissioners Marian Moskowitz, Josh Maxwell, and Michelle Kichline. It is backed by the county’s nine chambers of commerce, and other economic, education, and government leaders—all members of the COVID-19 Business Task Force and its Restore Chester County initiative.

Slides and resources from previous webinars can be found at restorechestercounty.org. Through this website, businesses, organizations, and residents can find these materials and other reopening guidelines with both overall and industry-specific guidance relating to COVID-19.
