A tree falling onto a power line causes closure of Ridge Road. between Ring and High Ridge rods, in Chadds Ford Township.

Ridge Road in Chadds Ford Township is closed between Ring and High Ridge roads after a tree fell onto a power line just east of High Ridge. Homes on High Ridge Road are without power.

Residents said PECO told them that crews wouldn’t be able to clear the street or restore power until Sunday, June 7. PECO has not yet confirmed any timetable.

The tree came down Wednesday night, June 3, and some of the exposed wires were still buzzing and arcing Thursday morning.

UPDATE:

Greg Smore, a PECO spokesman said crews are still assessing damage and making repairs around the Southeastern Pennsylvania area, including Delaware and Chester counties, adding that anticipated times for power restoration will be updated. Power has been restored to 382,000 properties since yesterday's storm, but 180,000 customers are still without power. Included in that figure are 45,000 PECO customers in Chester County. Smore added that it's possible that power will be back up nd Ridge Road reopend by tomorrow night.
