Mary Margaret DiNorscia of Kennett Square

Mary Margaret DiNorscia, 97, of Kennett Square, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 21, at Brandywine Senior Living at Longwood, in Kennett Square. She was the wife of Guy J. DiNorscia who passed away in 1998, and with whom she spent 54 years of marriage.

Mary was born in Drexel Hill and was the daughter of the late Pietro Antonio DeCicco and the late Antoinette Chicelli DeCicco. Mary came to Kennett Square 77 years ago to marry the love of her life, Guy DiNorscia. Together they made a life in Kennett Square; he as a mushroom farmer and she as a child caregiver in her home for over 34 years. During those years, she cared for countless children who grew up to be beloved acquaintances of "Aunt Mary".

Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking Italian cookies, playing cards, listening to her Italian music, eating funnel cake on the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J. and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Kennett Area Senior Center.

Mary was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Mary Anne Atkins of Landenberg, Janet Girolami (Louis) of Glen Mill, Gale Lattanzio (William) of Centreville, Del., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three brothers and a sister.

To all Mary’s caregivers over the past five years, thank you for your kindness and compassion.

A celebration of her life will be held at a future time due to the COVID19 restrictions.  Her burial will be private.
