A report from the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department said Dana A. McKelvey, 36, of Lincoln University, was charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment following a physical altercation. The incident happened on Monday, April 28, at 2:23 p.m., in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township. The victim, who had fresh red marks around his throat and neck, said that McKelvey struck him in the face and wrapped her hands around his neck, to the point it impeded his breathing. Police took McKelvey into custody, they said, after she admitted to the assault. She was processed and held for arraignment at Chester County Prison but remained in custody after failing to post bail. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
