Using humor to get by

It’s 8:25 a.m. on a Wednesday and the intersection of Routes 1 and 202 is quiet with sparse traffic, less traffic than is typical for even a Sunday morning. Further down Route 1, in the Village of Chadds Ford, Hank’s Place remains closed due to the governor’s order and there are no cars getting gas at Leader’s Sunoco.

It’s been a week since Gov. Tom Wolf ordered restaurants to stop in-person service and almost a full week since ordering all non-essential businesses to close. And it’s been less than 48 hours since he issued a stay-at-home order.

Many people are working from home might be a little more apt to spend some time on social media. Apropos, since people have been advised to practice social distancing. And all that time can lead to some unusual and funny things on various social media sites.

Some of the humor is a bit on the dark side. One person, commenting on the fact that Pennsylvania liquor stores have been shut down, jokingly suggested it was time for another Whiskey Rebellion.
