Chadds Ford Township office closed

Add Chadds Ford Township to the list of government offices that are closed due to the coronavirus. Chadds ford now joins Concord, Birmingham and Pennsbury townships that enacted emergency procedures and are not doing routine business in person.

Chadds Ford Township Manager Maryann Furlong sent out the following message this morning, Monday, March 16:

“Chadds Ford Township has enacted an Emergency Declaration in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and actions taken by federal, state and county governments. As part of the declaration, the Board of Supervisors has authorized emergency management measures in an attempt to insulate residents, the general public, and township staff. Thus, the township building will be closed to everyone except staff, elected officials and emergency personnel until March 30.

“Governmental functions will remain operational, but we would ask that all non-essential matters be postponed until after March 30. Essential/time-sensitive matters should be submitted to the Township via electronic methods, delivery service or US Mail. Township officials are consulting with Keystone Municipal Services regarding building inspections. Please consult the Township’s website or call the Township office for updates.

“In-person real estate tax payments have been canceled. Please call the Township office for alternate options if you are unable to mail your payment to the address on the tax bill.

“All non-essential public meetings will be canceled. If it is necessary to convene a public meeting during this time period, the Township will make arrangements to live-stream or otherwise broadcast the meeting on the internet so the public can listen and participate virtually. In the event of such an occurrence, the Township will provide everyone with further instructions.

“Please know that the health, safety and welfare of our residents and the general public is our foremost concern. This is a unique situation that is being monitored on a daily, and sometimes hourly basis. Please check the Township website and social media pages for updates. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”

Other townships closing their doors due to the virus, in addition to the ones previously mentioned, include Pocopson, East Marlborough, Newlin and Kennett townships, as well as the boroughs of West Chester and Kennett Square. West Marlborough Township has canceled its remaining meetings this month as well.
