Special COVID-19 meeting in Concord

Concord township is planning a special meeting on Tuesday, March 17 — tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. — in reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak. One measure is to cancel non-essential meetings.

The following is from Concord Township’s website:

Township residents, please note that the township is taking pre-emptive measures to put us in a strong position to be able to react quickly and efficiently in this fast-changing environment. As such, on Tuesday morning the township is planning a special meeting to put ourselves in a proactive position by considering a resolution of emergency declaration in order to have the ability to react swiftly as needed and secure important resources that may be available to us. While there are only a few confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, the township realizes in this time of uncertainty that our leadership is important in order to appropriately and reasonably respond to measures necessary for the health, safety and welfare of our residents. This resolution is our way of responding to the situation, while also balancing common-sense measures of postponing or canceling non-essential functions. What this means for our residents on an everyday basis is that at this time the municipality is canceling non-essential events and meetings and taking a practical approach to preventing the spread of this virus. We encourage our residents to remain calm and take everyday precautions. Please continue to follow us on social media and to check our website for further updates and information.

In Chester County, Kennett Township has suspended non-township meetings in the municipal building as well as nob-essential large group meetings.

Delaware County is also reacting to the coronavirus by canceling voting machine demonstrations scheduled for the rest of March and in April. Residents can watch a tutorial on the machines on the county website.

As of the morning of March 13, there has been one confirmed case of coronavirus in Delaware County, while Chester County is saying there are none there.
