The Brandywine Conservancy already knows what one of its Christmas presents is going to be this year — almost $100,000 from Patagonia Action Works.

Patagonia Action Works is a match-making effort to connect committed individuals to organizations working on environmental issues in the same community. The conservancy was one of 1,000 environmental organizations targeted for matching funds.

According to the conservancy’s Nicole Kindbeiter, “Supporting the Brandywine Conservancy through the Patagonia Actions Work campaign enabled individuals committed to our clean water and open space initiatives the opportunity to double their donation dollars with a 100 percent match from Patagonia. Large-scale matching opportunities like this don’t come around very often, so we worked hard to get the word out to as many people as possible. The campaign was a huge success for the Brandywine, which helped us secure over $94,000 from more than 100 donors, which will be matched 100 percent by Patagonia.”

She said Patagonia has been one of the conservancy’s key partners in a variety of ways, including support from through Trail Creek Outfitters and their ‘Brands that Give Back’ promotions. Patagonia also makes in-kind gifts for the conservancy’s fundraising auctions.

The recent matching campaign, which began on Black Friday and was supposed to run until Dec. 31, or until Patagonia matched $10 million in total across all the organizations. But, Kindbeiter said, the campaign reached the $10 million goal in just 17 days.”
