Academic Achievement Sept. 26

Aisha Lunkins, of Chadds Ford, was named Millennium Fellow for Widener University. Lunkins is studying biology.

Anna Robuck, of Chadds Ford, was recently chosen as one of 20 environmental scholars to receive a Switzer Environmental Fellowship. Robuck is working toward her doctorate at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. Her research focuses on a family of contaminants called per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). Used as water repellents and flame retardants, PFASs permeate the blood of 98 percent of Americans and nearly every habitat on Earth, yet there are large gaps in our understanding of the occurrence and effects of these contaminants.
