Montreal Guitar Trio plays the Kennett Flash on Friday, Aug. 2.

• The free concert series at Anson Nixon Park in Kennett Square comes to an end on Aug. 7 when The Sin City Band celebrate 45 years of music with a special performance of Americana, Folk, Rock and Roll and more. Show time is 7–9 p.m.

• Classic Movie Monday at Uptown! Performing Arts Center continues Monday, Aug. 5 with a showing of “The Color Purple.” The film is Steven Spielberg’s 1986 drama based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize Winning Story. A black Southern woman struggles to find her identity after suffering abuse from her father and others over four decades, starring Danny Glover, Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey. The film begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center is conveniently located near parking, shopping and restaurants at 226 North High Street, West Chester. • The Kennett Flash presents Montreal Guitar Trio on Friday, Aug. 2. Tickets are available at www.kennettflash.org. Advance tickets are $24 and tickets at the door will be $28. Doors open at 7 p.m., showtime is 8 p.m. The Kennett Flash is at 102 Sycamore Alley in Kennett Square.

Marriage license applications OK on Saturdays by appointment.

• Beginning on Saturday, Aug. 17, the Delaware County Register of Wills office will be open one Saturday per month from 9 a.m. to noon for marriage license applications. The Saturday hours will be by appointment only on the third Saturday of each month (with some exceptions for holiday weekends). Residents can call 610-891-4400 to make an appointment. No appointment is necessary for marriage license applications Monday-Friday. Marriage record services will not be available on Saturdays.

• The Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions on Saturday, Aug.17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. To schedule an audition time, call the Music School Wilmington Branch at 302.762.1132. Students will be asked to play 2 scales in 2 keys of choice and will be asked to play both legato and staccato, and at fast and slow tempos. Additionally, one solo piece is required demonstrating contrasting styles (accompaniment and memorization are not required).
