Girl Scout Day at Chadds Ford Elementary School. There were 60 Girl Scouts celebrating with the fourth-grade juniors leading activities in World Dance, International languages as well as beading and how to use a loom. They then made Arm Pit fudge. This is the fourth year of this event coordinated by Anna Marcotte, the Girl Scout school coordinator for CFES.

Residence at Chadds Ford will be hosting an interactive talk for dementia caregivers and the general public on Wednesday, June 19, 5:30 p.m., at the Chadds Ford Historical Society. Author and memory care specialist Kelly McCarthy will present her Brass Ring methodology and training – the latest innovation in dementia care endorsed by the National Institute of Dementia Education. There will be a cocktail reception at 5:30 with the presentation beginning at 6 p.m.

American Girl Camps this summer, June 24-28 and Aug.5-9, at the Chadds Ford Historical Society.

The Chadds Ford Historical Society is offering two American Girl Camps this summer, June 24-28 and Aug.5-9. Camps will be focusing on one era and one or more dolls per day. Your child can bring along their favorite doll to play and learn American History through their eyes. From the earliest days of the colonies through the American Revolution, from the Civil War to Civil Rights, the changes that took place for all Americans have had a major impact on our girls' lives today. This camp is available for students entering second through grade through fifth grade (children must be at least 7 years of age to participate). The program begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Children should bring a nutritious lunch and water bottle. Thinking about scuba? Come join the first annual Dock Party to celebrate the grand reopening of Blue horizons Dive Center at its new and expanded location, on June 29 from 12 to 5 pm. Blue Horizons is the premier scuba and snorkel training center located at 16 Wilmington West Chester Pike, Route 202, in the former location of Hadfield Seafood. Enjoy free food, drinks, music, games, a snorkel tank (bring a bathing suit), and contests with us as Blue Horizons dives into its new home.

The Friends Folk Club along with St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is pleased to announce a rare area performance by The Ragged But Right Quartet featuring Colin Gilmore, Adam Traum, and The Kennedys, on Friday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is located at 116 Lancaster Pike in Oxford. Doors open at 7 p.m. and start at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from this concert will benefit St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items which will be given to the local area food cupboards. Tickets are $15. Children 12 and under are free. Outback Trading Company expands into a new distribution center and headquarters in Nottingham. Outback Trading Company, a leading international supplier of all-weather outdoor apparel, has been a staple of downtown Oxford for more than 30 years. This month the Outback Corporate Office and Warehouse will move into their new location located in Nottingham Township, just outside of the Oxford Borough. With this shift, the decision was made for the Outback Trading Retail Store to close their doors as of June 30. While the store in Downtown Oxford will close at this date, Oxford local and long-time business partner, Ron Hersey, will be opening a new store that will carry Outback Trading Co. Wilson King, president of OTC said, “We have dreamed of a modern upgraded facility for years and are overjoyed with how beautiful our new location is shaping up. We are looking into the future and excited for Ron Hersey to open a new. … It was a hard choice to close the Outback Trading Store, but we think we found a way to ensure the best outcome for all and are excited for this next step with Ron.”
