Concord Township in brief

Concord Township Council Tuesday night voted to award the 2019 Road Program contract to Innovative Construction Service of Folcroft. Innovative offered the lowest of six bids tendered. The contract is for $627,000.

Prior to the bid being awarded, township engineer Nate Cline said PennDOT has agreed to do some limited pothole repair on Route 1.

The council honored some students from Garnet Valley High School at its May meeting. The school’s Hi-Q team won the national championship in April and council passed a resolution in the team’s honor. Council also awarded four scholarships to Garnet Valley students. The recipients are Bailey Prasad, Jared C. Scheffler, Annie Tunstall and Joshua Wong.

Township Manager Amanda Serock announced there will be a mural contest this year. She said members of council and people from Darlington Arts Center would pick the winners. The contest is open to those aged 12 and up. The theme is Concord Proud. Winning entries will be hung in the snack shack at the township park on Smithbridge Road, Serock said. Deadline for entries is July 15. Artwork and statement can be dropped off at the Darlington Arts Center, 977 Shavertown Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
