"Cabaret" leads RTC's fall schedule.

Resident Theatre Co., the professional theatre company that brings New York Theatre to West Chester, announced three award-winning shows scheduled for its upcoming third season.

Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” is set for the holidays in December.

RTC will produce Kander and Ebb’s “Cabaret” to open the season in the fall of 2019, Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” for the holidays in December, and Christopher Durang’s “Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike” to close the season in the spring of 2020.

“I’m excited to bring a season of soaring scores, hilarious writing, and legendary drama to West Chester in our third season. I think there is something for everyone,” said Kristin McLaughlin Mitchell, the founding artistic director of RTC.

“Cabaret,” introduces us to English cabaret performer Sally Bowles, American writer Cliff Bradshaw, and the decadence and danger of 1930s Berlin. This 10-time Tony Award-winning musical features a classic score including “Maybe This Time,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Money,” and of course, “Cabaret.”

“Into the Woods,” a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales is one of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's most popular shows. An ambivalent Cinderella, a blood-thirsty Little Red Riding Hood and Prince Charming with a roving eye are among the cockeyed characters in this fractured fairy tale. This funny and moving musical is equally enjoyable for children and adults.

“Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike” asks what if Chekhov's characters lived today in Bucks County.

Christopher Durang’s comedy, which explores what the characters of Chekhov might be doing today if they lived in Bucks County, won the Tony for Best Play in 2013. Adult siblings Vanya and Sonia live in their old family home, mourning their lost dreams. When their movie star sister, Masha, arrives unexpectedly with her young, boy toy, Spike, the family is launched into a rollicking weekend of wit and absurdity, exposed nerves, and a lot of broken mugs.

Tickets for the full season are on sale now at www.rtcwc.org ($25-$62). Performances at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in West Chester.
