Now that daylight savings time is here and spring is knocking at the door, summer camp opportunities beckon for children and families to consider. A great family option is Camp Creativity at Darlington Arts Center in Garnet Valley. They provide an ideal environment for children to tap into talents while opening multiple doors for exploring creativity geared toward participation and enjoyment. The focus on the arts provides children with eleven weeks of interactive fun and hands-on experiential activities. Camp Creativity is a unique summer program offering several advantages.

“The arts at Darlington provide a freedom that helps children cultivate new areas of interest while enjoying the learning experience in a non-competitive environment,” says Darlington Executive Director, Eric Carter-Thompson. “We encourage participation helping children to collaborate, make new friends, and enjoy their creative pursuits while they develop confidence in their abilities.” Campers can explore music, art, dance, and drama in a variety of imaginatively themed weeks from mid-June through August. Another important feature is for children to show off their camp endeavors at the end of each week for family and friends.

“We feel that adding a performance piece at the end of each week provides children an opportunity to demonstrate the learning and enjoyment that occurred during the camping experience,” says Carter-Thompson. “Parents love it too.”

When the school year ends, adventures in creativity await at Darlington Arts Center.  Their summer arts camps inspire students, ages 3-14, to think creatively about the world around them and express themselves through the visual and performing arts. They offer unique camping experiences that engage the arts while incorporating new themes each week. Children will enjoy traveling from Superhero Saga to Dinosaur Adventures then grab their guitars for Rockin’ the Arts before donning lab coats for STEAM in the Summer.  Each differently themed camp week provides children multiple opportunities to discover new areas of interest that inspire learning while having fun. Parents can sign up their children for one week at a time or decide to spend the entire summer season at the center. They offer both full and half-day camping experiences with before and aftercare options making it a true family-friendly destination.

The summer camp program at Darlington provides parents and children a wealth of engaging learning experiences infused with the arts. Also offered is a pre-camp for preschool the first week of June prior to the start of summer camp programs.  “Darlington pre-camp gives little ones a head start on summer enjoyment and learning,” says Darlington’s Carter-Thompson.  “Our Pre-camp is themed to incorporate the arts and gently introduces young children to summer camp in short, half-day sessions.  This provides the advantage of stimulating the imagination to plant early seeds of learning, creativity, and discovery while preparing them for school.”

Darlington is a safe comfortable environment that serves as a catalyst for children to explore and share their talents and to be motivated to express themselves creatively.  “At Darlington we want children of all ages to get set for journeys that ignite their potential and open the gateway for inspiration,” says Carter-Thompson. “We encourage innovation, originality, and being resourceful at every opportunity. We want Darlington to be the ideal family-centered place to develop new interests, talents, and abilities.”
