Frank Zagorskie of Avondale

Frank Zagorskie, 77, of Avondale, died Friday, Jan.. 25. He was the husband of Maureen Formanowski Zagorskie, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Louise Marsit Zagorskie and the late Charles Zagorskie.

A 1961 graduate of Hazleton High School, he excelled as a three-sport athlete competing in football, basketball and baseball. While always modest about his accomplishments, “Frank Zack” was a great athlete- career highlights included being on Pennsylvania’s Big 33 football team in high school and being invited to try out with the Detroit Tigers.

After graduating from the Pennsylvania Police Academy, Frank was an officer in Avondale, Kennett Square, and New Garden Township. Always the civil servant, Frank served on the board of supervisors for New Garden Township while working as road master for the township, retiring in 2004.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, boating, fishing, hunting and golfing. A longtime member of the Italian American Citizens’ League in Kennett Square, and FOP of Chester County, he will be missed by many. Those that had the immense pleasure of knowing Frank, know what it’s like to have an honest, hardworking friend, with a big heart- that always knew what to say to put a smile on your face.

A devoted family man, Frank in addition to his wife, is survived by his loving daughters Cindy Zagorskie & Lisa DelSignore (husband Frank) whom he thought the world of. Frank is also survived by his grandchildren: Adrian D’Amico, Julia Shaw (husband Jimmie), Joseph Kudla, Alicia D’Amico & Holden Kudla. Most recently, Frank was elated to know his great-grandson, Perry Shaw. He is also survived by his brother Charlie Zagorskie (wife Dolores), nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Relatives & friends are welcome to join in a celebration of Frank’s life from 10 to 11:30 a.m.on Friday, Feb. 1, , at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike (Route 41), Avondale, PA. His funeral mass will follow at 11:30. Burial will be private.
