From mushrooms to oil and mattresses

The former Phillips Mushroom Museum building that became a health food store, is gone. A Quick Lane service center and a mattress store will be going onto the property in East Marlborough Township.

The old Phillips Mushroom Museum on Baltimore Pike at Orchard Avenue in East Marlborough Township gave way to a health food store more than 15 years ago. Then the health food store closed shortly after Whole Foods moved into Concord Township.

Now the building and those behind it are being torn down. According to East Marlborough Township Manager Laurie Prysock, the front of the property will be used for a Ford's Quick Lane service center and the rear will be used for a mattress store.

Prysock said the businesses have already been approved following a conditional use hearing earlier in the year and that several zoning variances were granted. She added that the Ford's Quick Lane would have at least eight lanes and is affiliated with  Garnet Ford.
