Police Log Dec. 19: Assault, crashes, thefts

Police said two motorists were injured and sent to Paoli Hospital following a Dec. 13 accident on Route 202 at Oakland Road in Chadds Ford. According to the report, 69-year-old Peggy S. Conway, of West Chester, was driving north on Route 202 when she began making a left turn across traffic onto Oakland, but she struck another car heading south on 202. Conway was cited, police said.

A 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a person at the Best Western Hotel in Concord Township on Dec. 12. Police identified the suspect as Michael Lawrence Peterson. According to the report, Peterson and the victim got into an argument in the bar. Peterson then allegedly walked the victim outside to “cool off” but assaulted him instead.

Daniel H. Rodgers, 62, of West Chester, was cited for his involvement in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 at Heyburn Road in Chadds Ford Township on Dec. 6, police said. According to the report, Rodgers was driving north on Heyburn when he tried to make a left turn onto southbound Route 1. In the process, he struck another car heading north on Route 1.

A 69-year-old man from Concord Township was the victim of identity theft on Dec. 8. A police report said the victim’s bank contacted him after a credit card account was opened in his name and more than $1,000 was charged.

Police said a 21-year-old man from West Chester was cited after he struck several traffic signs in Pennsbury Township and fled the scene. Police identified the driver as Daniel W. Megill. The incident happened at 4 a.m. on Nov. 22. According to the police report, Megill was driving north on Parkersville Road near Hanover Drive when the vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500, left the roadway “multiple times” and hit four signs and a telephone pole. Police said they found the vehicle several hours later on Old Baltimore Pike.

Police said an unidentified man, described as white, with a full brown beard and mustache, brown shoulder-length hair and wearing dark pants, green flannel jacket and an orange/blue/white tassel cap with a fluffy top stole $35 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in East Marlborough Township on Dec. 12. The police report said the suspect fled in a red pickup truck with a silver tool chest in the bed. 

Southern Chester County Regional Police

Diego Salgado, 28, of Coatesville, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), as well as with two traffic offenses, after he was found to be in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia, following a traffic stop for an equipment violation, according to a police report. The incident occurred on Nov. 17 at 4 p.m., in the 8900 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Salgado was processed and released pending issuance of a summons.

Police said Jordan A. Jenkins, 22, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), as well as with several traffic offenses, after he was found to be in possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Police made the arrest on Nov. 16 in the 1300 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township. Jenkins was processed and released pending issuance of a summons.
