Brandywine Battlefield Park holds its annual Patriots’ Day this year on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 seniors and $8 for children 6-12. The event includes lectures and demonstrations on the colonial period and the War for Independence.

Colors are raised to start the Veterans’ Day ceremony in Concord Township on Nov. 11.

It’s Enchanted Winter Day at Winterthur on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fun happens indoors and out. Visitors may take a “sleigh ride” on the decorated garden tram, complete with holiday music and candy canes for the kids. All trams stop at Enchanted Woods children’s garden, also decorated for the season with greens and bows and a holiday tree covered with ornaments made of natural materials. Indoor fun includes performances by magician Magic Tad. Throughout the day, children can make an ornament to give as a gift or keep for themselves. The beloved holiday film The Muppet Christmas Carol will run continuously throughout the day. Enchanted Winter Day activities are included with all tickets. Admission is $22 for adults; $20 for students and seniors; and $6 for ages 2–11 and includes the Yuletide Tour. For more, visit winterthur.org.

Donna Usher is one of three artists exhibiting abstract art at the Chester County Art Association.

Three visual artists will exhibit pure abstract artwork during the December show at the Chester County Art Association. Artists include Donna Usher, Ken Vavrek, and Susan Melrath. The show will take place at the Chester County Art Association, 100 North Bradford Avenue, West Chester, from Dec. 1 through Jan. 3. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. An artists’ panel discussion will take place Thursday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m.

Charlie Zahm will perform at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church on Dec. 14.

The Friends Folk Club along with St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church announces the return visit of a Friend Folk Club favorite Celtic balladeer Charlie Zahm on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is located at 116 Lancaster Pike Oxford, PA 19363. Doors open at 7. Proceeds from this concert will benefit St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items which will be given to the local area food cupboards. Tickets are $15. Children 12 and under free. PAWS for People will conduct training sessions for potential pet therapy teams in Kennett Square during December. Sessions are Mondays, Dec. 3 and 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both sessions are required. They’ll be held at  The Friends Home. 147 W. State Street. Pre-registration required. Jennifer Nicole Campbell will perform a special concert at the Brandywine River Museum of Art Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Jennifer Nicole Campbell, Delaware County Symphony’s artist in residence, is scheduled to perform a special concert noon Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Brandywine River Museum of Art. The concert is free with the price of admission. Campbell is a native and resident of Chadds Ford.
