Police Log Nov. 14: Rape, corruption of minors, terroristic threats

Pennsylvania State Police Media barracks

Someone damaged a front window of the Bryn Mawr Trust bank in Chadds Ford with a BB gun, police said. The incident happened Nov. 1, but there were no witnesses.

Police said they determined Ronald Owens, 57, of Chester, was DUI following a two-vehicle accident on Route 1 at Powell Road in Concord Township on Nov. 4. Owens was reportedly taken to a hospital for evaluation while the occupants in the struck vehicle were not injured. The accident happened at 7:14 p.m.

Four people were taken to the hospital for injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Heyburn Road in Chadds Ford Township on Nov. 6. Police said Maura Bellow, 19, of Chadds Ford, was one of the injured and that she was cited for careless driving. According to the report, Bellow was driving south on Heyburn, north of Tally Ho Drive when she struck the oncoming vehicle while she was trying to negotiate a right hand curve in the road.

Michael L. Fiorelli, 51, of Boothwyn was cited for driving at an unsafe speed after a one-car crash on Mattson Road in Concord Township on Nov. 6, police said. He was transported to Crozer Hospital for treatment of a suspected injury. The report said Fiorelli was driving west on Mattson Road near Willits Way when he hit a tree on the right side of the road while negotiating a right hand curve. The crash happened at 6:21 p.m.

Avondale barracks

Salina Badillo, 23, of San Diego, Calif., was taken into custody in Pennsbury Township for an outstanding warrant, police said. The report said she gave troopers false identification on Sept. 12. No other details were released.

An 87-year-old man from Kennett Square was cited for careless driving after striking another car that was waiting to make a left-hand turn at the intersection of Route 926 and Lenape Road in Pennsbury Township. Police identified the offending driver as Joseph P. Moran. According to the report, Moran told police his feet “got tangled up in the pedals,” and was unable to apply the brakes.

Southern Chester County Regional Police

A police report said John W. Harris, 27, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with rape and related offenses, following the investigation into a sexual assault that is alleged to have occurred in early June, in New Garden Township. Harris was taken into custody on Oct. 18. He was arraigned and was initially committed to the Chester County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail. He was released after posting bail the following day.

Simon S. Tague, 20, of Newark, was charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), and with corruption of minors, in connection with an incident on July 30 in which he was found to be in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia and is alleged to have been smoking pot with two juvenile males, a police report said. Police had been dispatched to the 300 block of Sunnydell Road, in New Garden Township for a report of four males in a field, smoking near large hay bales. When police arrived, three of the males fled but were later identified. Tague was detained at the scene.

A dispute between neighbors led to the arrest of Eudosio Jaimes, 66, of Kennett Square, police said. According to the report, Jaimes was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct for allegedly taking up a shooting position and pointing a long dark object, believed to be a rifle, at the victim, while threatening to shoot him. The incident occurred on Oct. 17 in the 300 block of Pemberton Road, in New Garden Township. When police arrived on scene, Jaimes was seen pointing the object at officers. He eventually complied with verbal commands and was taken into custody. The object was found to be a 5-foot long section of rebar. Jaimes was processed and held for arraignment, after which he was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

According to police, Jenna S. Brandow, 29, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), after she was found to be in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia, following a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Oct. 16. The stop was made at 7:43 p.m., in the 8900 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Also arrested was Donald F. Waite, 24, of Wilmington, police said.
