Chadds Ford in brief

• If a proposed budget for next year matches the preliminary budget that was discussed on Oct. 24, Chadds Ford Township property owners won’t be hit with any tax increase.

That preliminary budget, discussed at last night’s workshop, anticipates $1.1 million in revenues and expenses. That’s a 6.99 percent increase over this year’s, but taxes will remain as they are now. Township taxes currently total 0.882 mills for properties in a hydrant zone and 0.787 if outside of such a zone. Total taxes include the hydrant tax, plus taxes for general government, open space funds and for the Rachel Kohl Library.

• Mark D’Amico, the attorney representing The Henderson Group on some local projects, said the Hillman Drive extension — the loop road — is closer to being built. D’Amico said the plan has been refined and could be recorded soon. Henderson still needs to get easement agreements signed with William Bunch Auction House and Painters Crossing Condominiums, as well as finalizing paperwork with Lisa Vonderstuck of Brandywine View Antiques.

• The township will be spending some money on security. Supervisors voted to spend no more than $5,900 on upgraded security systems for the township building and Painter’s Folly. The breakdown is $3,300 for an improved camera system and $2,600 for motion detectors.

• The Board of Supervisors’ next regular meeting is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7. An Open Space Task Force/Supervisors meeting will be held the following night, Nov. 8.
