Police Log Oct. 24: 102 bags of heroin, retail thefts, indecent assault

Police said they found 102 bags of heroin in a vehicle after making a traffic stop in the 200 block of Evergreen Drive in Concord Township on Oct. 12. Two men, who police identified only by name, Gabriel Frezzo and Justin Husbands, were charged. Drug paraphernalia was also found.

Someone stole a wallet from a car parked and used the victim’s credit cards. Police said the incident happened on Oct. 12. The car was parked in a driveway on Annesley Drive in Concord Township.

A person, who police described as a black man in his 40s or 50s, stole two cartons of cigarettes from the hands of the cashiers at the Naaman’s Creek Road  Wawa on Oct. 14. The suspect fled in a silver, four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai. The incident happened at 2:20 a.m.

Police said Chase Lewis Robbins, of Wilmington, was charged with DUI following an Oct. 11 traffic stop at Byers and Evergreen drives in Concord Township.

Avondale barracks

Police are looking for two men in connection with an Oct. 2 robbery at an East Marlborough Township AT&T store. According to the report, the men — who police described as black and in their 20s or 30s — took four iPhones from the display area of the store. The two are known to use a silver Nissan to flee. Anyone with information regarding the incident should call police at 610-268-2022.

The driver who lost control of the vehicle she was driving was transported to Chester County Hospital for injuries following a one-vehicle accident on Lenape Unionville Road in Pocopson Township. The accident happened at 2:59 p.m. on  Oct. 11. Police identified the driver as Cassandra Gray, 29, of West Chester. According to the report, Gray was driving east on Lenape Unionville Road but was unable to keep the vehicle under control while negotiating a left-hand curve. The Nissan Pathfinder went off the road and came to rest in a ditch.

Someone stole several items from a shed in Pocopson Township on Oct. 1.

A 21-year-old from West Chester is accused of indecent assault at 516 School House Road in East Marlborough Township. Police identified the suspect as Ricardo Vargas. According to the report, Vargas grabbed the victim’s rear end from behind then proceeded to touch her vagina. The victim then forced Vargas’ hand away as he reached for her breast, the report said. At that point, the suspect fled. The incident happened at 10 p.m. n Sept. 22.

Southern Chester County Regional Police 

Jose Hernandez-Renteria, 46, of Dillsburg, was arrested and charged with DUI after he was found asleep in his vehicle — with the engine running and the transmission in drive — police said. The incident occurred on Sept. 30 at 11:07 p.m., in the 9000 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. After field sobriety tests confirmed impairment, Hernandez-Renteria was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.144 percent.

Police said Jeremias Domingo-Vazquez, 24, of West Grove was arrested and charged with DUI and a related offense, after he was found asleep in the driver’s seat of his vehicle on Sept 30 at 2:22 a.m., in the 100 block of Church Street, in New Garden Township. Numerous open beer cans were found on and around him and he exhibited indicators suggesting intoxication, according to the report. He refused to perform field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He was processed and later released pending issuance of a summons.

According to a police report, Larkin Cowart, 36, of Landenberg was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possessing instruments of crime, terroristic threats, harassment, and disorderly conduct, in connection with an altercation, during which he allegedly punched and kicked the victim, causing injuries requiring medical treatment. Cowart is also alleged to have brandished a small machete. In a separate incident the following day, Cowart is accused of attempting to break into the victim’s bedroom, while brandishing a knife. The incidents occurred on Sept. 22 and 23 in the 500 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township

Mario Herrera, 50, of Lindenwold, N.J. was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for both moving and lighting violations. The incident occurred on Sept. 23 at 6:08 p.m., in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.224 percent.

Police said Kathy Y. Murray, 59, of North East, Md. was arrested and charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest, and with DUI and a related traffic offense, following a traffic stop for erratic driving on Sept. 28 at 11:09 p.m., in the 200 block of Sunnydell Road, in New Garden Township. According to the report, Murray displayed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests confirmed impairment. When police attempted to take her into custody, she began to run away and continued to resist their efforts to handcuff her. Once taken into custody, she threatened the officers with violence and refused to consent to a chemical test of her breath. She was processed and held for arraignment, after which she was released on $5000 bail. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
