Nicholas J. Mastrippolito Sr. of Embreeville

Nicholas J. Mastrippolito Sr., 96, of Embreeville, died peacefully on Aug. 31. He was the husband of Kathryn DeFazio Mastrippolito, who died in March 2018, and with whom he shared 76 years of marriage.

Born in Embreeville, on Sept. 13, 1921, he was the son of the late Philip Mastrippolito Sr. and the late Palma Fazio Mastrippolito.

Nick was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church of Kennett  Square.

He was a member of Rotary Club of Kennett Square.

For many years he assisted in the operation of the Point-to-Point fundraiser that benefited the Chester County Hospital.

He was a member of The Mushrooms Processors Association and the Pennsylvania Food Processors Association and served as president of both.

He proudly served 36 years as an elected supervisor for Newlin Township.

Nick started his working life growing tomatoes and mushrooms with his father. Over the years the business grew and in 1960, under his leadership, the family opened a food processing plant in Newlin Township. In 1980, he converted the plant to operate as a sterilization facility of medical devices which he ran until his retirement in 1994.

He is survived by his children, Nick Mastrippolito Jr. (Joanne), Robert Mastrippolito Sr. (Ernesztina Molnar), and Kathryn Kealy (Thomas); nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brothers John and Philip Jr., sister Rose Saverioni as well as many niece and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister Mary DiPasquali and a baby brother.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, , at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. His funeral mass will follow at 11 at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square, PA. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
