Police Log July 25: Theft, drugs, knife assault

• A 22-year-old Kansas City, Mo. man, identified by police as Timothy Aaron Lasiter, was arrested on a variety of charges following a May 3 incident near the Walmart in East Marlborough Township. According to a report, police were investigating a retail theft committed at the store. The suspect fled into a nearby wooded area. Police found the suspect who then tried to flee on foot but was captured. A search revealed Lasiter was in possession of a hypodermic needle and methamphetamines. Police also learned there were warrants for his arrest from Missouri. He has since been extradited.

Southern Chester County Regional Police

• Police said Patricia L. Harper, 51, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with drug, DUI and traffic violations following a July 6 incident in the 700 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township. At 10:13 a.m., police observed suspicious activity taking place in the parking lot of a convenience store, between a female, later identified as Harper, and a male who approached her vehicle. Police said they observed activity consistent with a hand to hand drug transaction take place and pulled behind the vehicles to further investigate. Harper, police said, exhibited signs of intoxication and a records check revealed that her driving privilege was suspended for DUI. A cup of white wine was seen in the cupholder of her car. The male who had approached Harper admitted that he had arranged to meet her there to purchase drugs, the report said. Further investigation revealed that the male had given her $100 to purchase 20 Xanax pills that are prescribed to Harper. A search warrant for her residence in Kennett Township was granted and, with assistance from the Kennett Township Police Department, the warrant was executed and Xanax pills — a Schedule IV Controlled Substance — as well as cash, were seized. She was arraigned the following day and was committed to the Chester County Prison in lieu of posting bail.

• Orlin Efrain-Garcia, 26, of Avondale, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and prohibited offensive weapons, stemming from a July 2 incident in the 500 block of Church Road, in New Garden Township, police said. Efrain-Garcia is alleged to have used an 8-inch knife to slash at the victim during an argument, causing injury to the victim's chest and hands. He then fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. The victim was treated by EMS personnel for his injuries. Efrain-Garcia was taken into custody July 4.

• Police said Silas W. Crossan IV, 33, of Lincoln University, was arrested and charged with DUI, related traffic offenses and with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act after the 1999 Chevrolet he was operating was stopped for erratic driving. The incident occurred 6:25 p.m. on July 3 in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view, police said.
