• Be among the first to see and enjoy Wilmington Brew Works, the first microbrewery within Wilmington's city limits in 50 years, at this exclusive event with The Delaware Center for Horticulture. Roll up your sleeves and bring a friend (or two!) to this fun night out. After a brief introduction to WBW's beer and philosophy, select your beverage of choice and set your creativity to work planting a terrarium. Plant experts will provide inspiration and guidance. • Chester County 4-Hwill be offering a beginner sewing class for children 8-18. The class will be July 23-26 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester. This beginner sewing class will teach basic hand sewing stitches and introduce straight stitching on a sewing machine. Cost for the class is $55 payable to Penn State Extension. Advanced registration is required. To register for the class, please contact the Penn State Cooperative Extension 4-H office at 610-696-3500. We reserve the right to cancel the class for insufficient registration.

Jen Chapin to perform Aug. 10

• Jen Chapin, daughter of the Harry Chapin, will be performing at The Friends Folk Club on Friday, Aug. 10. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items which will be given to the local area food cupboards. There will be several food trucks on site at 5:30 p.m. so come for dinner and dine under a canopy before the show. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. Doors open at 7, and concert will start at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church 116 Lancaster Pike Oxford, PA 19363. • Chelsea Tavern, a gastropub where comfort meets concept, will play host to the second annual Downtown Brewfest on Aug. 11. The Downtown Brewfest consists of 100 local craft beers representing more than 50 local breweries with three bands and two DJ’s playing from 2-7:30 p.m. There will be a VIP tasting from noon-1:30 p.m., and general admission from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Restore the King initiative being spearheaded by The Friends of Gambrinus, INC. The Delaware Gambrinus statue is only one of five statues known to exist that were cast from the same JW Fiske mold. VIP tickets are limited and Home Brew participants can contact Briana Gordon at Chelsea Tavern for details, 302-482-3333. Chelsea Tavern’s full menu will be available for the entirety of the event.
